I'm a long-time freelance journalist who specializes in personal finance, particularly retirement, as well as insurance and real estate. I cover retirement for Bankrate.com and other clients, priding myself on being on top of such key topics as Social Security and Medicare, as well as long-term care, life insurance and annuities.
For the last 17 years, I've published Freelance Success. a subscription newsletter and online community for freelancers. We were a profitable social media resource long before Facebook was cool.
I also cover real estate – I compiled a daily newsletter for the National Association of Realtors for seven years during the height of the real estate recession. I have also covered real estate for HGTV, Old-House Journal, the New York Post and for Bankrate.com.
My background is in newspapers – I worked for Gannett Co. Inc. for 20 years, the last 15 in top editing positions. I was the assistant managing editor of the Wilmington, Del., News-Journal; the editor in chief of the Valley News Dispatch and associated Western Pennsylvania publications; the editor in chief of the Utica (N.Y) Observer-Dispatch; and the editor in chief of the Burlington County (N.J.) Times.
