A prominent political strategist within the Republican Party, Nick Ayers has received the support of multiple GOP politicians and operatives and the praise of numerous national and regional media outlets over the last 10 years. A Republican from an early age, he began his political career in the early 2000s as a campaign advisor to former Georgia governor Sonny Perdue. At the time, Nick Ayers studied political science at Kennesaw State University in Georgia.
After working on Perdue’s successful campaign to unseat former Georgia governor Roy Barnes, Nick Ayers was named manager of Perdue’s re-election committee in 2004. Ayers was 22 years old at the time. Following Perdue’s successful re-election, Ayers joined the Republican Governors Association (RGA) as executive director in 2006. Over the next five years, he and his colleagues at the RGA created and implemented a long-term strategy to significantly increase the number of GOP governors in the country. During that time, he grew the RGA’s operating budget by $115 million and helped increase the number of Republican governors in the United States to a majority.
In 2011, Nick Ayers worked alongside Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus as a director of transition, a role in which he created and implemented a 60-day plan to reduce operating costs of the RNC. Soon afterwards, Ayers joined Los Angeles–based media placement strategist Target Enterprises as a partner. He currently holds this position while living in the Atlanta area with his wife and children.
