Dennis wears many hats--a journalist for his ethnic community and worldwide, a content strategist/copywriter/ translator for the Asian American market, and a blogger for Silicon Alley's startups. More recently, he has put on a totally different hat--as UX & Axure designer for Cascle Business Solutions, which he likes to think is the culmination of a bizarre decade-long, paradigm-shifting career in New York.
As a journalist, he has covered topics and issues as news, lifestyle, entertainment, business and technology separately and even as one think piece. He likes to think his exposure in advertising doing creative work has helped him write more effectively for the 21st century. He has edited health and fitness sections in a newspaper and launched an adventure travel magazine in six months. He thinks blogging about tech startups is making him think like one. Being up close with Steve Blank, Fred Wilson, the founders of Warby Parker and Gilt probably did it for him.
Ultimately, Dennis' diverse skill sets (a journalist-copywriter-UX designer, etc) make for an unusual brew that some companies think can be a handicap where in others is an advantage. But when there are only 4% of minorities in online media, he thinks the key to getting work is knowing how--to borrow a term from the tech startup world--to pivot.
