For nearly thirty years, I worked in the UK as a freelance writer, photographer, producer, presenter, and director in the area of communications. During this time, I developed a roster of ‘blue chip’ Clients such as Elida Faberge, BBC, Fujitsu/ICL, Cisco Systems, British Aerospace, Rolls Royce Motors, Unilever, Shell, The Co-operative bank (UK’s 6th largest bank) and the Department of Employment. I also won an award from the British Medical Association for a dramatised documentary about breast cancer.
In 2001, I returned to University where I gained a Master’s Degree in photography, and subsequently taught film/video and photography at Universities in Stafford, Chester and Liverpool.
In 2007, I moved to Italy where I continued my work in communications as well as devoting time to more personal projects in music and the visual arts. In 2008, my illustration work was first featured in Zuiderlucht - an arts newspaper based in Maastricht - as a monthly column entitled RAM taken from my journals, the basis for my blog www.reallyaccessiblememory.com.
Zuiderlucht subsequently previewed my graphic novel ‘My Imaginary Lives’. I was also invited to contribute a title by Matchboox, an innovative Dutch publisher of miniature handmade books, and I was commissioned to produce a series of black and white illustrations for a book of Dutch poetry produced in collaboration with award-winning designer, Baer Cornet.
